Many legally-trained private practice IP- or patent attorneys would largely profit from learning about the practical business / economic IP challenges that an industry company faces, so that they become a more valuable advisor for their industry clients.

I certainly do not intend to provide full disclosure of the wild time when I was 18 y/o, but there was one thing that I'd like to share. Then, I was working as a pizza delivery driver in my small home town while still going to school. I still vividly remember checking that oversized street map sticked to the door in the "Pizza Blitz" delivery. All of us pizza drivers just needed to "download" this map to our brains before jumping on the seat of one of the Peugeot 306s to deliver the good stuff...

An FTO is a necessary exercise for tech businesses intending to market new products. Several FTO processes and approaches exist. If they are bulky, they tend to inhibit an innovative product generation. Agility counts but legal risks have to managed, as well.
One is well-advised to design FTO processes and perform FTO tasks together with an experienced, business-focussed IP manager.

Do you cringe when it comes to easy and misleading definitions? Well, I often do. So, a while ago I asked a quite short question on Linkedin. It fostered more discussion than I expected. It was great to see that many peers put their minds on a quite "basic" issue of definitions and interpretations around "IP", "Innovation", "invention" and more.
